The goal is to create a sound architecture that supports safety, usability, and clarity. Challenges that have been identified in the current product sound environment:
- notifications and feedback sounds do not differentiate clearly enough
- some sounds risk being confused with critical alarms
- usability and cognitive load require optimization
The goal is to design, amongst others:
- a clear sound category structure (alarms vs. feedback vs. touch sounds)
- positive and negative feedback signals
- on/off interaction sounds
- a cohesive sound system that does not compete with critical alarm signals
You will act as a senior-level expert who defines the principles of the sound architecture, conceptualizes and produces the required sounds, justifies design decisions from a usability and safety perspective and documents design principles for implementation teams. Although the scope is focused, the context is complex and therefore, we are looking for an experienced professional.
What We Expect:
Must have:
- Experience in UX sound design within products or device environments
- Strong understanding of usability and cognitive load
- Ability to clearly differentiate informational sounds from critical alarms
- A systematic, well-reasoned design approach
Strong plus:
- Experience in medical, industrial, or other regulated environments
- Human Factors expertise
- Experience with validation and/or testing of sound systems
This is an interesting assignment in a high-impact, responsible design context where there is an opportunity to improve safety and usability.
