Our manufacturing customer is looking for an experienced IT Architect to provide solution architecture support to R&D in running an RFP and selecting a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).

The objective is to ensure the chosen solution fits the customer’s operating environment, security expectations, and integration needs – and that it has a realistic and viable implementation path.
The assignment covers both the RFP phase and the vendor selection phase, with strong emphasis on technical due diligence and structured evaluation.

The architect will support in:

RFP technical input & documentation
  • Contributing to the RFP from a technical/architecture perspective (scope boundaries, assumptions, non-functional requirements, security requirements, integration expectations, deployment options, response structure for technical sections).
  • Defining what vendors must provide to enable proper technical evaluation (deployment models, integration approach, security, environments, support model, upgrade approach, configuration vs. customization, indicative implementation approach).
RFP response validation & solution due diligence
  • Performing architecture-level due diligence sufficient to support a selection decision.
  • Reviewing solution fit against requirements and intended ways of working.
  • Clarifying vendor responses, assessing technical sections, and documenting risks and trade-offs.
  • Providing commercial/pricing input from an architecture perspective (deployment models, environments, integrations, cost drivers).
  • Assessing integration needs at a high level (key interfaces, data flows, ownership, operational considerations).
  • Ensuring realistic evaluation of reporting, analytics, and data export needs.
  • Defining pragmatic principles for coexistence with legacy information sources and high-level migration approach.
Implementation outline
  • Delivering a high-level implementation outline to support delivery planning (dependencies, operating model implications, internal resource needs).
Deliverables (minimum)
  • Technical RFP content (technical requirements, non-functional requirements, integration and security expectations, vendor response templates for technical sections).
  • High-level solution context and integration overview (key systems, interfaces, data flows and ownership).
  • Security and non-functional evaluation checklist.
  • Vendor technical assessment (per-vendor summaries, comparative view, risks and trade-offs).
  • Legacy coexistence / transition note (high-level principles).
  • Risks, assumptions, trade-offs and dependencies log.
  • High-level implementation outline.
What We Are Looking For
  • Proven experience as a Solution Architect supporting commercial software evaluation and/or implementation.
  • Experience in industrial or manufacturing environments.
  • Strong competence in integration architecture within mixed enterprise landscapes.
  • Practical understanding of enterprise security fundamentals relevant to system selection and supplier evaluation.
  • Ability to write structured, clear requirements and produce decision-support material.
  • Experience maintaining structured logs of assumptions, risks, trade-offs, and dependencies.
Seen as advantage
  • Experience with laboratory or R&D systems and workflows is considered a strong advantage.
Working Model
Remote work model, with possible on-site visit or occasional visits outside the capital area.

Working Languages
Fluent English is required.
Finnish and Swedish are considered an advantage.
