In this role, you will:
- Take ownership of an existing, largely-built time-series forecasting model that predicts the profitability of vehicle service/maintenance contracts by car type, mileage, and other variables — providing ongoing maintenance and light further development rather than building from scratch.
- Maintain and potentially extend a related, simpler pricing model that uses the forecasting model's output to price upcoming contracts
- Help scale the approach from its current focus potentially into other parts of the business.
- Work in Azure Synapse using Python/PySpark, with results visualized in Power BI for business stakeholders.
- Act as the translator between complex modeling work — thousands of individual forecasts — and business stakeholders, explaining the "black box" and walking through the underlying problems rather than letting the model stay opaque.
- Keep documentation to a standard that satisfies financial reporting and audit requirements, since the model's output feeds into accounting accruals.
- Work across a cross-border project spanning Finland and Sweden.
You will thrive if:
- You're a data scientist with past experience with forecasting models
- You have strong hands-on experience with Azure Synapse, Python, PySpark, and some understanding of Power BI, plus solid Git practices.
- You're comfortable owning and evolving someone else's model rather than only building your own from a blank page.
- You have strong communication skills — the ability to make complex, multi-variable forecasting understandable to non-technical stakeholders is explicitly valued here.
- You're fluent in English; Finnish and/or Swedish are a plus given the cross-border stakeholder group.
- You're available to start very soon — ideally within the next one to two weeks.
