We are looking for an SRE Engineer for our client to develop service reliability metrics, objectives, and alerting capabilities within a cloud-based data and AI environment.

This assignment focuses on building and improving observability and reliability practices for data platforms and pipelines. The primary objective is to establish actionable service-level metrics, alerting processes, and operational visibility that enable teams to proactively manage service reliability.
Your Responsibilities
- Define meaningful reliability signals and metrics for both batch data pipelines and near real-time data streams
- Establish SLIs, SLOs, and error budgets together with service owners and stakeholders
- Implement operational alerting, notification routing, and log-based metrics using cloud-native monitoring tools
- Build dashboards for operational monitoring and long-term service reliability reporting
- Define alert ownership, escalation procedures, acknowledgement processes, and alert path observability
Requirements
- Hands-on experience with SRE practices, including designing SLIs, SLOs, and error budgets in production environments
- Strong expertise in Google Cloud observability services, such as Cloud Monitoring, Cloud Logging, alerting policies, and the SLO API
- Experience managing monitoring and infrastructure configurations with Terraform
- Solid skills in BigQuery and SQL
- Ability to challenge and refine service-level objectives in collaboration with technical stakeholders and service owners
The working model for this role is either hybrid or mostly remote. Some presence in the client's premises in Helsinki is expected in the beginning of the project.
