Senior Design System Expert

The ideal candidate is a senior-level UI/Product Designer, Design System Designer, or similar, with strong hands-on experience in designing, developing, and scaling design systems. A key requirement is practical experience with AI-native design systems. You should understand how a design system needs to evolve when AI agents become active participants in the design and development process, rather than simply tools used by designers or developers.

To succeed in this task, you should understand how to structure design system knowledge so that it is machine-readable, accessible to AI agents, and usable as reliable context for AI-assisted design and development. The goal is to enable agents to understand and apply the system consistently, rather than relying solely on human interpretation of documentation or design files. You should also have practical experience using AI in design work and be familiar with emerging approaches for connecting AI agents directly to design systems and design tools. Experience with or a strong understanding of Figma MCP is particularly relevant, as is an interest in developing agentic design-to-code and design system workflows.

It is essential to understand how AI-native workflows can help keep design, code, documentation, and design system knowledge synchronized, and how appropriate rules and guardrails can enable agents to generate outputs that remain consistent with the system.

In this assignment, you should also be comfortable working independently as a senior expert in a client environment and capable of combining hands-on design system work with experimentation around new AI-native ways of working.

A strong plus is experience with Storybook, Claude or AI coding tools, design system governance and maintenance models, as well as experience building shared design systems across multiple products or a product family. Experience with industrial B2B products or other complex user interfaces is also highly valued.
