We are looking for a Senior Computer Vision Project Lead & Developer to lead and implement a high-impact industrial AI initiative in manufacturing quality assurance.
The goal is to reduce production waste at scale by deploying computer vision–based defect detection across multiple production lines in a global manufacturing environment.
The goal is to reduce production waste at scale by deploying computer vision–based defect detection across multiple production lines in a global manufacturing environment.
- Production scale: ~500 million units/year
- Year 1 goal: deploy solution on 3 production lines
What You’ll Do
Technical Leadership
Technical Leadership
- Own the end-to-end computer vision solution architecture
- Define scalable approach across multiple heterogeneous production lines
- Lead technical decisions on models, tooling, and infrastructure
- Work closely with data/platform teams to ensure data flow across production stages
Hands-on Development (potentially, customer's team is highly involved in the hands-on part and it will be discussed whether the consultant participates in it as well)
- Design and implement computer vision models for defect detection
- Work with image data from industrial production environments
- Build pipelines for training, evaluation, and deployment
- Optimize models for real-time or near-real-time inference (edge + cloud)
Data & Integration
- Ensure traceability of defects across production stages (maker → coating → converting)
- Integrate with existing datahub / cloud platform
- Replace manual/fragmented processes with automated data pipelines
Collaboration
- Work with production engineers and plant teams
- Translate real-world manufacturing problems into ML solutions
- Guide stakeholders from PoC → production
Key Challenges
- Data continuity across long, multi-stage production processes
- Limited or inconsistent labeling (historically manual)
- Heterogeneous production lines (20–30 variations)
- Bridging physical production and digital systems
- Moving from earlier PoC to scalable production deployment
Requirements
Must-have
Must-have
- Strong experience in computer vision / machine learning
- Proven track record delivering production-grade computer vision systems
- Strong understanding of Python (e.g. PyTorch, TensorFlow, OpenCV)
- Experience with edge deployment and/or real-time inference
- Strong system design and architecture skills
- Ability to lead projects and make independent decisions
Nice-to-have
- Experience with industrial or manufacturing environments
- Experience with defect detection / quality inspection
- Experience with distributed data systems or data platforms
- MLOps experience (pipelines, monitoring, model lifecycle)
- Experience working across multiple sites / countries
Profile We’re Looking For
- Senior, pragmatic builder
- Comfortable in ambiguity and early-stage problem solving
- Able to balance speed vs. scalability
- Strong communicator with both engineers and business stakeholders
