Senior HMI / Embedded UX Designer

The assignment focuses on designing the user experience and embedded interface of a technically complex physical product. The goal is to translate complex system behaviour and technical information into a clear, intuitive and high-quality user experience, while working within the constraints of hardware and firmware development.

You will work closely with product, firmware and engineering teams to define how users interact with the device. Your work may include information architecture, navigation and menu structures, system states, settings and configuration, warnings and error situations, as well as the overall interaction logic between the physical product and its digital interface.

A key part of the assignment is to rapidly visualize and prototype solutions so that design decisions can be evaluated together with engineering before technical and hardware decisions are locked in.

We are looking for someone who can quickly understand a complex technical environment, work independently and communicate naturally with engineers and firmware developers.You have strong experience in HMI, Embedded UI, Device UX or Industrial UX and can demonstrate work where you have designed a digital interface as an integral part of a physical product.

Experience from industrial automation, energy/electrification, automotive HMI, medical devices, heavy machinery or other safety-/mission-critical products is highly relevant. Experience working in regulated product development environments is considered a strong advantage.

This is not primarily a web, mobile or SaaS design assignment. Understanding physical product design and industrial design is valuable, but the core competence we are looking for is HMI / Embedded UX and strong interaction design.
